Overview

The StarTech SFP-10G-BX-U-20-ST is a professional-grade Bi-Directional (BiDi) fiber SFP+ transceiver module, engineered for 100% compatibility with the Cisco SFP-10G-BX-U-I. This module is designed for high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications where fiber conservation is a priority. By utilizing BiDi technology, the transceiver can transmit and receive data over a single strand of Single Mode Fiber (SMF), effectively doubling the capacity of existing fiber infrastructure.

This “Upstream” (BX-U) module operates by transmitting at a 1270nm wavelength and receiving at 1330nm. For a functional link, it must be paired with a compatible “Downstream” (BX-D) module, such as the Cisco SFP-10G-BX-D-I compatible transceiver. It supports distances up to 20km (12.4 mi), making it an ideal choice for metropolitan area networks (MANs), campus backbones, and large-scale data center interconnects.

Equipped with Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM/DOM), the SFP-10G-BX-U-20-ST allows for real-time monitoring of critical operating parameters, including optical power levels, temperature, and supply voltage. The hot-swappable design ensures seamless integration into Cisco switches and routers without requiring system reboots or causing network downtime.
