Overview

The StarTech FET-10G-ST is a Cisco-compatible SFP+ transceiver module designed for use with Cisco Nexus series switches and fabric extenders. This module is engineered to deliver reliable 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over multimode fiber (MMF) cabling. It serves as a direct replacement for the Cisco FET-10G, providing the same performance and functionality at a lower cost for data center architectures utilizing Fabric Extender (FEX) technology.

This transceiver supports a maximum distance of up to 100 meters using OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber. It is hot-swappable, allowing for seamless upgrades and replacements without shutting down network services. The module is specifically programmed and tested to ensure “plug-and-play” compatibility with Cisco equipment, avoiding the “unsupported transceiver” errors often encountered with generic third-party optics.

Built for high-density environments, the FET-10G-ST features Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM), which allows network engineers to monitor real-time parameters such as temperature, voltage, and optical power. This proactive monitoring helps identify potential link issues before they cause downtime. It is primarily intended for uplinks between Fabric Extenders and Parent Switches.
