The Xerox 497K22400 is a SIPRNET Enablement Plus Smart Card Reader Kit, also referred to as a Common Access Card (CAC) Reader & Enablement Kit with SIPRNET reader enablement . This security accessory adds smart card authentication capabilities to compatible Xerox VersaLink multifunction printers, enabling secure print, copy, and scan functions. It is intended for IT security administrators, government facility managers, and defense contractors operating in SIPRNET (Secret Internet Protocol Router Network) or NIPRNET environments requiring CAC-based access control . The kit solves the problem of unauthorized printer access and ensures compliance with federal security mandates by restricting device functions to authenticated card holders. Deployment involves internal installation of the mounting hardware and card reader assembly designed for tall configuration models with mailbox/finisher present . The kit includes mounting hardware and the card reader. Compatibility is restricted to Xerox VersaLink B605/B615 Multifunction Printers and C605 Color Multifunction Printers with tall (mailbox/finisher present) configuration . This kit is not compatible with standard-height VersaLink models or with non-Xerox devices.
