Overview
The HPE JL251A is a 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ transceiver module designed for rack-server or data-centre connectivity over multimode fibre. It uses bidirectional (BiDi) signalling over a duplex LC connector pair to achieve 40 Gb/s link speed within a compact QSFP+ form factor. Rated for up to approximately 100 metres over OM4 multimode fibre, it enables high-density uplinks between switches or in aggregation layers without the need for multiple fibre strands. The module is hot-pluggable and fits into standard QSFP+ ports, making it suitable for high-throughput inter-rack or top-of-rack switching environments. Because it supports BiDi operation and reduces fibre-pair usage, it is particularly effective where cable strands are constrained or where future bandwidth upgrades are anticipated.
