Overview
The APC AP8832 is a metered rack power distribution unit (PDU) engineered to distribute three‑phase AC power within rack enclosures while providing real‑time load metering. Data center power engineers, facilities operators, and network administrators deploy this unit to monitor and balance rack power usage, improve capacity planning, and avoid overload conditions. It does not provide UPS backup, power conditioning, or surge suppression; its core function is structured power distribution with integrated metering.
This model supports 208 V AC input at up to 30 A, yielding a maximum load capacity of roughly ~6.24 kVA. Power is distributed through a combination of IEC 60320 outlets — typically 12 × C13 and 6 × C19 — allowing connection of servers, switches, storage arrays, and other rack‑mounted IT equipment requiring 208 V power. The metering capability provides real‑time voltage, current, and power (kW) data to help operators manage loading and plan expansions.
Installation is via a zero‑U (0U) vertical rackmount orientation, preserving horizontal rack units for active equipment. The PDU includes mounting brackets and an integrated cord with a NEMA L6‑30P or IEC 60309 connector (model dependent) to interface with the facility’s power distribution infrastructure.
Advanced metering allows local and remote visibility using Web, SNMP, and Telnet interfaces.
