Overview

The APC BE850G2 is a standby uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that provides temporary battery backup and surge protection for electronics, networking equipment, and small servers during utility power disruptions. It is used by IT support teams, small business administrators, and home office operators to sustain critical loads during brief outages and help prevent data loss or hardware disruptions.

This UPS delivers 850 VA / 450 W of capacity and switches to battery power when input voltage deviates outside acceptable thresholds. It uses standby topology with a stepped approximation to a sine wave output and typical transfer times of about 6 ms to maintain continuity for protected loads.

Outlets are organized to separate battery‑backup plus surge protection from surge‑only receptacles, enabling critical circuits to receive runtime support while protecting non‑critical circuits from surges without draining battery reserve. Two USB Type‑A charging ports provide auxiliary 5 V DC output for mobile device charging without drawing from UPS runtime capacity.
