APC SMT2200C – Smart‑UPS 2200VA 120V UPS
Overview
APC SMT2200C is a line‑interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to provide battery‑backed protection for critical IT systems, servers, network devices, and communications equipment operating on 120 V AC power. IT administrators and small business infrastructure teams deploy this UPS in offices, network closets, and edge environments where uninterrupted operation and controlled shutdown during power events are required.
The unit delivers 2200 VA / 1980 W output capacity with a pure sine‑wave output, ensuring compatibility with modern server‑grade power supplies and active PFC loads. Its line‑interactive topology integrates Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltage and overvoltage conditions without switching immediately to battery power, preserving battery runtime for true outages.
In tower form factor, SMT2200C is well suited for floor‑side placement near rack enclosures or workstation clusters. Power input is provided through a NEMA 5‑15P connector, and the rear panel features a combination of battery‑backup and surge‑only NEMA 5‑15R outlets to allow prioritized protection of critical devices.
Management connectivity includes USB and serial communication ports for integration with shutdown software and monitoring applications. The UPS also supports SmartConnect remote monitoring, enabling cloud‑based status visibility, alerts, and diagnostics, reducing the need for on‑site UPS hardware management.
Internal sealed lead‑acid batteries supply ride‑through time sufficient for orderly shutdowns: generally ~10 minutes at half load and ~4 minutes at full load. Batteries are user‑replaceable and hot‑swappable, and typical recharge time following discharge is ~4 hours.
This UPS is intended for deployments where robust power protection is required in a tower format. It is not suitable for 19″ rack installations without appropriate rack conversion hardware.
