Eaton 9PXEBM240SP – 3U Extended UPS Battery Module
Overview
The Eaton 9PXEBM240SP is an extended battery module (EBM) designed specifically to provide additional runtime capacity for Eaton 9PX 6 kVA split‑phase UPS systems. It is deployed by IT infrastructure teams and data center engineers to satisfy runtime requirements beyond the internal UPS battery limits without generator dependency. This module does not operate as a standalone UPS but extends autonomy for critical loads.
It is engineered to house sealed lead‑acid cells and integrates directly with compatible 9PX UPS hosts via dedicated connectors and hot‑swappable battery assemblies. The internal batteries are replaceable without powering down the UPS, enabling maintenance without load disruption.
The 9PXEBM240SP mounts in a standard 19‑inch rack using the included 4‑post rail kit or in a tower configuration with supplied brackets. At 3‑rack‑units (3U) height, it aligns below the UPS to form a contiguous power protection stack.
This EBM integrates exclusively with the Eaton 9PX6KSP split‑phase UPS. Communications and UPS control remain with the host unit; the EBM contributes only stored energy capacity.
A practical deployment is in medium‑density IDF/MDF closets or branch server rooms where SLA dictates extended hold‑up times for networking, servers, and storage during prolonged mains loss. This module should not be used with non‑compatible 9PX models or without confirmed UPS host support, as electrical and runtime scalability cannot be validated.
