Eaton E2MTHDI – Environmental Sensor Module with Temp & Humidity
Overview
The Eaton E2MTHDI is an environmental monitoring sensor module designed for use with Eaton/Tripp Lite LX Platform devices. It provides real‑time ambient temperature and relative humidity monitoring plus digital dry contact status inputs. This module is typically deployed by data center engineers, network infrastructure teams, and facilities managers to extend environmental visibility at rack level and integrate environmental conditions into UPS/PDU event logs and management systems.
The unit supports monitoring of temperature and humidity while also providing two dry contact digital inputs for ancillary devices (e.g., door sensors, leak detectors, alarms). Connectivity to the host system is via a USB‑A to Micro‑USB cable included with the module. It is electrically passive and relies on the LX Platform interface to report sensor data back to monitoring software.
Deployment is focused on indoor IT environments — specifically server rooms, network closets, and data center racks. The magnetic mounting system allows quick attachment to rack rails or enclosure walls without additional hardware. Multiple E2 sensors can be daisy‑chained for comprehensive zone coverage within a cabinet.
The E2MTHDI integrates with Eaton’s LX Platform management ecosystem, including WEBCARDLX/WEBCARDLXS or equivalent network interfaces. Reporting and threshold alerting are supported through Eaton’s PowerAlert Device Manager or platform‑native interfaces, enabling ingestion of environmental statuses alongside UPS/PDU telemetry.
In a practical deployment, this sensor is used to detect rising temperature or humidity that could precede IT hardware failures, and to feed that information into centralized monitoring and alerting systems. It also provides status from connected dry contacts, enabling integration with auxiliary building or rack‑level sensors.
This module is not a stand‑alone controller and requires a compatible LX Platform UPS or PDU with a network interface. It should not be used as a replacement for dedicated environmental control systems or building management systems in environments requiring automated HVAC control.
