Overview

The Eaton PDUMH20 is a horizontal rack‑mount Power Distribution Unit (PDU) with local metering designed to deliver AC power and basic load visibility to rack‑mounted equipment. It is deployed by data center and network engineers where consolidated distribution and real‑time current reporting are required without network‑enabled control.

This PDU supports single‑phase 120 V AC input with a 20 A rating and a total capacity up to approximately 2.4 kW. It supplies twelve NEMA 5‑15/20R outlets, enabling connection of servers, switches, storage, and other rack equipment using standard North American power leads. The front‑panel digital meter reports total load in amps to assist in load planning and avoiding circuit overloads.

The unit installs in one rack unit (1U) of EIA‑310 19‑inch racks typical of IDF/MDF closets, branch cabinets, and small data centers. Its shallow‑depth housing fits even constrained rear rack spaces and supports horizontal, reversible mounting as well as optional vertical (0U) or wall installation with accessories.

The PDUMH20 integrates into standard NEMA‑based power ecosystems with a NEMA L5‑20P input plug and includes a 15 ft (4.57 m) line cord. It also ships with an adapter for compatibility with NEMA 5‑20P receptacles, providing flexibility across rack feed configurations.

In a practical deployment, this PDU is used downstream of a UPS or facility feed to distribute power to multiple rack loads while giving technicians local insight into total current draw. The meter helps prevent inadvertent overloading when adding new equipment to the rack.

This unit does not provide network‑based management or outlet‑level switching and is not a surge suppression device; it should not be used where managed PDUs or metered + protected units are required.
