Overview

The Eaton SR12UB is a floor-standing 12U rack enclosure designed for housing standard 19-inch rack-mounted IT and network equipment in space-constrained environments. It is deployed by network engineers and infrastructure teams to provide structured equipment mounting, airflow management, and physical security for edge and distributed IT installations. This enclosure addresses the need for compact rack infrastructure without sacrificing compatibility with full-depth server hardware.

The cabinet supports up to 12U of rack space with a mid-depth design capable of accommodating equipment depths up to approximately 32.5 inches. It provides a maximum load capacity of 1000 lb (453.6 kg), supporting dense deployments of servers, UPS systems, and network devices. Adjustable vertical mounting rails allow flexible depth positioning, enabling installation of both shallow networking gear and deeper compute hardware.

The SR12UB is commonly deployed in branch offices, IDF closets, retail infrastructure, and edge computing environments where full-height cabinets are not feasible. Its reduced height allows placement under desks or in confined floor areas while still maintaining a standardized rack format for structured IT deployment.

Integration aligns with standard rack ecosystems using EIA-310-E compliant 19-inch mounting rails with square-hole design. The enclosure includes top and bottom cable entry points to support structured power and network routing. It supports integration with rack PDUs, UPS systems, and passive airflow or fan-assisted cooling configurations within single-phase rack power environments.

In a practical deployment, the SR12UB is used in a branch network closet to house access switches, patch panels, and a compact rack UPS. Its adjustable rail depth allows proper alignment for mixed equipment profiles, while locking doors and side panels secure equipment in shared or unsecured locations.

This enclosure is not suitable for high-density data center rows requiring 42U scalability or hot/cold aisle containment. It is also not intended for wall-mounted deployments or environments requiring seismic-rated or shock-isolated rack solutions.
