EXTREME NETWORKS 25G-ER-SFP40KM – Transceiver Module
Overview
The EXTREME NETWORKS 25G-ER-SFP40KM is an enterprise-grade, ultra-long-haul 25 Gigabit Ethernet SFP28 optical transceiver designed for high-capacity core routing backbones, metropolitan area networks (MANs), and distributed enterprise backhaul loops.
The structural assembly utilizes a standardized Small Form-factor Pluggable 25 (SFP28) chassis enclosing a high-performance 1310nm Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser transmitter paired alongside an integrated high-sensitivity avalanche photodiode (APD) receiver.
Tailored for permanent execution within high-speed infrastructure arrays, this transceiver interfaces natively with Extreme Networks hardware architectures, including the 5420, 5520, 5720, and X695 series switching nodes running Switch Engine or Fabric Engine. To prevent signal degradation and maintain link integrity across the 40-kilometer perimeter, network administrators must enable Forward Error Correction (FEC) on the host switch ports.
