EXTREME NETWORKS 4220-24T-4X – Layer 2 Cloud-Managed Ethernet Switch
Overview
The EXTREME NETWORKS 4220-24T-4X is an enterprise-grade Layer 2 wired edge access switch custom-engineered for modern corporate office workspaces, branch offices, and distributed retail storefronts. This cloud-managed hardware platform simplifies deployment operations by shifting system control to a unified central interface, eliminating complex, localized manual terminal configurations. It establishes rapid, data-only operational readiness for commercial networks requiring high-performance workstation connectivity, network printer links, and local server backhauls without the overhead of inline Power over Ethernet.
The physical architecture features a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet copper access configuration, utilizing high-density 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 interfaces. For high-speed upstream connectivity and local hardware scaling, the front panel features 4 unpopulated 1/10Gb SFP+ slot interfaces that double as native stacking ports when operating under the standard Switch Engine operating model. Because this specific “T” variant operates on a non-PoE baseline, it is highly energy-efficient and optimized for installations where endpoints have independent power sources or do not require network-delivered current.
Designed for automated network environments, the switch natively interfaces with ExtremeCloud IQ or ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine, enabling zero-touch edge provisioning, real-time switch health telemetry, and automatic cloud configuration recovery. For versatile architectural placement, the low-profile 1RU chassis natively supports standard rack integration and table-mounting, utilizing a smart internal fan array configured for port-to-back airflow. Avoid utilizing this system in core multi-path backbone networks running Fabric Engine where native stacking functions are inactive, or in edge deployments requiring direct, switch-delivered IEEE 802.3at/bt power injection.
