The HPE C8R24B is a 16 Gb Fibre Channel Short-Wave (SW) SFP+ Transceiver module engineered for high-performance SAN environments. Delivering up to 14.025 Gb/s per port, it’s compatible with legacy 8 Gb and 4 Gb FC systems while supporting high-throughput end-to-end FC connectivity. With an LC duplex connector operating over multimode fiber at 850 nm, the module offers a reach of up to ~100 m (OM4/OM5), making it ideal for inter-shelf links, SAN edge ports, or server/storage uplinks. Integrated Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) enables real-time diagnostics of link health including optical power, temperature, and voltage (per SFF‑8472 standard), enhancing manageability and availability in critical storage fabrics. Certified for use with HPE SAN products—including MSA, 3PAR, EVA, XP arrays and HPE Fibre Channell switches—this module ensures vendor-level compatibility and support.

It auto-negotiates supported FC speeds (16/8/4 Gb), enabling seamless integration into existing multi-speed fabrics or gradual infrastructure upgrades.Operable over multimode fiber with a minimum optical budget of ~2.7 dB, the module supports up to 100 m reach over OM4 or OM5 cables; transmit power spans –7.8 to –0.5 dBm, while receiver sensitivity reaches approximately –10.5 dBm. It supports Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DOM) for proactive health monitoring if enabled on the fabric switch or controller.Designed for deployment in HPE /Aruba Fibre ChannelChannel SAN infrastructure—including MSA 2040, 3PAR, EVA, XP, and switch products—the C8R24B module is widely employed in storage environments where performance and reliability are critical.
