Overview
The HPE JG336A FlexFabric 5900AF 48XGT 4QSFP+ Switch is engineered to address the demanding requirements of modern data centers, serving as a high-density, ultra-low-latency Top-of-Rack (ToR) solution. As an integral part of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) FlexNetwork architecture’s FlexFabric solution, this switch is ideally suited for deployment at the server access layer in large enterprise data centers, and robust enough for core layers in medium-sized enterprises. It specifically targets environments with increasing virtualized applications and heavy server-to-server traffic. This advanced network switch provides 48 RJ-45 ports supporting both 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, complemented by four 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ uplink ports. This port configuration ensures high-performance server connectivity and efficient traffic aggregation to the network core. Delivering a substantial 1.28 Tbps switching capacity and a forwarding rate of 952 Mpps, it handles data-intensive workloads with remarkable efficiency. Furthermore, its ultra-low latency, measured at under 1.5 microseconds for 10GbE traffic, is critical for time-sensitive applications and virtualized environments. The device supports full Layer 2 and Layer 3 features, IPv4/IPv6 dual stack, OpenFlow, and TRILL for robust network scalability and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) capabilities. Designed for flexible deployment, the FlexFabric 5900AF switch features a 1U rack-mountable form factor, optimizing space within data center racks. It incorporates HPE’s Intelligent Resilient Fabric (IRF) technology, allowing multiple physical switches to be virtualized into a single logical device, which simplifies network management and enhances business agility with faster re-convergence times. The switch features two power supply slots and two fan slots, requiring at least one power supply and two fan trays (sold separately) for operation, emphasizing its modular and redundant design for high availability.
