Overview
The HPE JG895A is a high-density, top-of-rack (ToR) Layer 3 access switch from the FlexFabric 5700 series. It is engineered specifically for the server access layer in medium to large enterprise data centers, addressing the need for cost-effective and low-latency 1GbE server connectivity while providing high-bandwidth 10GbE and 40GbE uplinks to the network core. A core strength of this switch is its support for HPE’s Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF) technology. This feature allows up to nine physical switches to be virtualized and managed as a single logical device, which dramatically simplifies network architecture and operational management. IRF also ensures superior availability with sub-50-millisecond convergence times, maintaining network uptime during a link or device failure. Designed for top-of-rack placement, the JG895A utilizes a compact 1U form factor for efficient use of rack space. The chassis is sold without power supplies or fan trays, providing the flexibility to order modules that match specific data center airflow and power redundancy requirements. Management is available via a full command-line interface (CLI), SNMP, or through HPE’s Intelligent Management Center (IMC) platform.
