HPE P45642-H21 InfiniBand NDR200 200GbE Network Adapter
Overview
The HPE P45642-H21 is a high-performance InfiniBand and Ethernet network adapter designed for demanding High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) environments. As a single-port Host Bus Adapter (HBA), its primary role is to provide servers with ultra-low latency, high-bandwidth connectivity, breaking through data bottlenecks that can limit the performance of compute-intensive and data-driven applications. It is engineered for integration into the latest generation of servers supporting PCIe 5.0. This adapter leverages the NVIDIA ConnectX-7 controller and Quantum-2 InfiniBand architecture to deliver a bidirectional throughput of up to 400Gb/s (NDR). This capability is critical for workloads involving large-scale simulations, complex data modeling, and machine learning, where rapid data transfer between compute nodes and storage is essential. Its hardware-based congestion control and atomic operations offload the CPU, improving overall system efficiency and accelerating time to solution. Physically, the P45642-H21 is a PCIe 5.0 x16 plug-in card with a half-height, half-length (HHHL) form factor, making it compatible with a wide range of HPE ProLiant Gen11 and later servers. It features a single OSFP port for robust, high-speed connectivity. Management is integrated within the server’s existing infrastructure tools, such as HPE iLO, allowing for streamlined firmware updates and system monitoring within the data center’s operational framework.
