HPE R9L62A FlexNetwork 5140 HI 48G 4SFP Ethernet Switch
Overview
The HPE R9L62A is a high-availability Layer 3 access switch designed for the access layer of medium to large enterprise campus networks. It addresses the need for a scalable and resilient network foundation by providing 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports for user and device connectivity, supplemented by four 10GbE SFP+ uplinks for high-speed aggregation to the network core. This combination ensures bottleneck-free performance for bandwidth-intensive applications. Engineered for robust performance, the switch features a switching capacity of 336 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 180 Mpps. A key technology is HPE’s Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF), which allows up to nine switches to be virtualized and managed as a single logical device. This simplifies network architecture, enhances resiliency, and provides seamless failover, directly translating to increased network uptime and simplified administration for IT staff. Physically, the R9L62A is a 1U rack-mountable unit, making it ideal for standard data closet and server rack deployments. Logically, it operates at the network edge, providing advanced access control and security features. Management is streamlined through platforms like HPE Intelligent Management Center (IMC) and the embedded SmartMC tool, which offer comprehensive configuration, monitoring, and policy management through a graphical user interface or traditional command-line interface.
