Intel BX80684I58400 – Core i5-8400 8th Gen Desktop Processor
Overview :
The Intel Core i5-8400 is an 8th generation desktop processor with 6 cores and 6 threads, built on 14nm Coffee Lake architecture . It operates at a base frequency of 2.80 GHz and boosts up to 4.00 GHz via Turbo Boost 2.0 technology . This processor is designed for mainstream desktop users, system integrators, and business workstations requiring reliable multi-core performance for productivity applications, content creation, and mid-range gaming.
The processor features 9MB of Intel Smart Cache and supports dual-channel DDR4-2666 memory . Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 runs at 350 MHz base and 1.05 GHz maximum dynamic frequency, supporting up to three simultaneous displays with resolutions up to 4096×2304@60Hz over DisplayPort . The processor does not support Intel vPro or Hyper-Threading Technology .
Deployment requires an LGA1151 socket motherboard based on Intel 300 Series chipsets (B360, H310, H370, Q370, Z370, Z390) . The 65W TDP includes a thermal solution (PCG 2015C) in the box . This processor is NOT suitable for: LGA1151 v1 (6th/7th gen) motherboards with 100/200 Series chipsets, DDR3 memory systems, workloads requiring hyper-threading (i5-8400 has 6 threads, not 12), or Windows 8.1/7 (requires Windows 10 64-bit) .
