The Intel E10G42BFSR is an enterprise-class dual-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) short-range fiber network interface adapter from the X520 server series. Purpose-built to optimize high-density multi-tenant cloud architectures, virtualized enterprise server banks, and network-attached storage pipelines, this PCI Express component addresses intense bandwidth congestion. It delivers highly reliable, short-range optical connectivity to securely accelerate modern data center transformation.
Powered by the high-performance Intel 82599ES 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller chipset, the network adapter includes native hardware-level stateful and stateless offloads. It integrates dual Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus (SFP+) cages pre-populated with 10GBASE-SR short-range LC duplex multi-mode fiber transceivers, accommodating reliable data transit distances up to 300 meters. The board deploys advanced Intel Virtualization Technology for Connectivity (Intel VT-c), optimizing hypervisor layout execution via Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) and Next-Generation Virtual Machine Device Queues (VMDq) to guarantee near-native I/O speeds.
This optical server adapter interfaces through a physical PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot profile, sliding directly into full-height or low-profile expansion bays on mainstream rack or blade systems. Do not deploy this hardware inside legacy non-PCIe environments or over single-mode long-range fiber paths without replacing the native transceivers.
