The Opengear 319014 is a 6-inch straight serial adapter cable featuring a female DB-9 connector on one end and a female RJ-45 connector on the other . It is designed to connect an Opengear console server with a Cisco Straight/X2 pinout RJ45 serial port to a DCE (Data Communications Equipment) DB9M port, such as a modem or certain network device consoles, via a standard UTP patch cable .

This adapter is used by network engineers and data center technicians to establish out-of-band management connections without carrying multiple custom cable types.
