The Oracle ZS7-2 is a versatile, enterprise-grade storage controller designed to anchor the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance ZS7 series. It is engineered to deliver high performance and reliability for mission-critical workloads, including consolidated database hosting, backup and recovery operations, and high-performance file services. By combining massive memory capacity with high-speed interconnects, it efficiently manages demanding I/O profiles.
This controller utilizes the ZFS file system to provide industry-leading data integrity, snapshots, and replication capabilities. Its architecture is optimized for hybrid storage pools, allowing it to leverage DRAM, flash, and disk media to achieve both low-latency performance and high-capacity storage density. It is the core compute node that dictates the throughput capabilities of the attached storage shelves (such as the DE3-24C).
It is intended for large-scale enterprise data centers. Deployment requires coordination with compatible disk expansion shelves and Oracle ZFS software management. It is not designed for standalone use without at least one connected drive enclosure.
