10G-SFPP-SR-S 10Gbps Multimode Fiber SFP+ Transceiver
Overview
The 10G-SFPP-SR-S is a 10 Gbps small form-factor pluggable (SFP+) optical transceiver designed for short-range multimode-fiber (MMF) links in data-centres, aggregation switches, and campus networks. It supports up to 10 Gbps Ethernet (and compatible with 1G/10G dual-rate ports) and uses an 850 nm VCSEL laser transmitter, making it ideal for inter-rack or intra-data-hall fibre runs on OM3/OM4 multimode fibre. According to the datasheet the module supports link lengths up to approximately 300 m on OM3 and up to 400 m on OM4.The module is hot-swappable, supports LC duplex connector interface, Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) for real-time diagnostics of optical power/temperature/voltage, and adheres to the SFF-8432/8472 MSA standard for SFP+ form factors1 Its low-power consumption and compact SFP+ footprint make it a flexible choice when adding 10G uplinks to existing switch infrastructure without changing the chassis or optics footprint. In practice, if you’re building out 10 Gigabit uplinks in a data-centre rack row or high-density access aggregation switch stack, this transceiver gives you fibre links that support 10G bandwidth, alerting/monitoring capability, and utilization of existing multimode fibre before you commit to more expensive single-mode or longer-reach optics. Note: You must match fibre type (OM3/OM4) and transceiver specs (wavelength 850 nm) to get the quoted reach. The engineer-in-the-field knows that “SR” means short-range, so keep the link distances within spec.
