StarTech QSFP40GLR4S – 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ Transceiver Module

Overview :

The StarTech QSFP40GLR4S is a 40 GbE QSFP+ optical transceiver designed for long-reach single-mode fiber links in data center and enterprise networks. It provides 40 Gbps 40GBASE-LR4 connectivity over single-mode fiber to distances up to 10 km, making it suitable for spine-leaf, core aggregation, and long-haul campus connections.

This module uses an LC duplex interface and supports Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) for real-time link and optical parameter reporting. It is hot-swappable and MSA compliant, enabling deployment in QSFP+ ports on compatible switches and routers without disrupting network operations.

Intended for engineers and procurement teams, this transceiver is ideal when extending 40 GbE over single-mode fiber. It is not suitable for multimode fiber links or shorter-reach multimode applications (e.g., 40GBASE-SR4).
