Overview
The StarTech WIR5ECMPBL is a high-performance, bulk Category 5e (Cat5e) network cable designed for professional installers and system integrators. This 1000-foot (304.8m) spool is engineered specifically for “in-wall” and “above-ceiling” installations where local building codes require a CMP (Plenum) fire rating.
Constructed with 24 AWG solid copper conductors, this cable ensures superior conductivity and signal integrity compared to copper-clad aluminum (CCA) alternatives. It is optimized for Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps) deployments, providing the necessary bandwidth for VOIP, data, and security camera systems. The low-smoke, fire-retardant plenum jacket is designed to restrict the spread of flames and minimize toxic fumes in the event of a fire, making it mandatory for use in air handling spaces.
The cable is delivered in a “Reel-in-Box” format for easy, snag-free pulling during large-scale deployments. It is intended for permanent infrastructure cabling and should be terminated with high-quality Cat5e RJ45 connectors or patch panels.
