TRENDnet TEG-MGBS10D3 SFP Single-Mode 10km Module
Overview :
The TRENDnet TEG-MGBS10D3 is a high-performance, hot-pluggable Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver designed for reliable, long-distance fiber optic networking. It is specifically engineered for single-mode fiber applications, enabling Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over distances up to 10 kilometers (6.21 miles). This module is ideal for deployment in campus networks, business parks, and manufacturing facilities requiring stable, long-range data transmission between switches or fiber converters. At its core, the TEG-MGBS10D3 utilizes bi-directional Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology. This allows it to transmit and receive data over a single fiber strand by using different wavelengths for the upstream (1310nm) and downstream (1550nm) signals. This design significantly reduces the cost and complexity of fiber cabling infrastructure compared to traditional dual-strand modules, offering a direct operational benefit for network expansions or new builds. Built for compatibility and ease of deployment, this transceiver adheres to the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA), ensuring it functions correctly in any MSA-compliant SFP slot on a network switch or media converter. Its metal enclosure provides durability and low electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring signal integrity in demanding environments. The module operates with a simplex LC connector and must be paired with a complementary module, such as the TEG-MGBS10D5, for a complete link.
