Overview
APC AP8861 is a metered rack‑mount power distribution unit (PDU) designed to distribute electrical power within high‑density IT racks. It is deployed by data center engineers and facilities teams to provide centralized power delivery, real‑time load metering, and basic local/remote management for servers, storage, and network equipment. This PDU addresses the need for accurate utilization measurement and controlled distribution in structured rack environments.
The unit accepts a three‑phase 208 V AC input via a NEMA L21‑20P plug and distributes up to 5.7 kW of power across mixed outlet types. Outputs include thirty‑six IEC 60320 C13 receptacles, six IEC 60320 C19 receptacles, and two NEMA 5‑20R outlets. Integrated metering tracks volts, amps, kW, and kWh for capacity planning and load balancing.
AP8861 occupies a zero‑U (0U) vertical footprint along the rack’s side, preserving usable rack units for active equipment. Its slim orientation is suited for IDF/enterprise or data center racks where rack space is at a premium and power visibility is required.
Management includes a built‑in network interface suAP8861pporting SNMP, web, and CLI access for remote monitoring of load and energy metrics. A local LCD provides instantaneous readings of electrical parameters for technicians on the rack floor.
This PDU integrates with broader infrastructure management tools (such as EcoStruxure IT) through its network management card. Locking receptacles help prevent accidental disconnects in dense cable environments.
AP8861 is not intended for use in single‑phase only service environments without appropriate upstream infrastructure or in outdoor/exposed installations without protective enclosures.
