It is utilized by industrial engineers, IT administrators, and retail system integrators who need to interface multiple RS232 peripherals—such as barcode scanners, receipt printers, PLCs, and satellite receivers—with a single server or workstation.
Technically, the card is built around the high-performance Systembase 16C1050 UART, which features an expansive 256-byte FIFO (First In, First Out) buffer. This larger buffer significantly reduces the CPU overhead and prevents data loss during high-speed transmissions compared to standard 16C550 UARTs. The card supports data transfer rates up to 921.6Kbps and features native single-chip architecture, ensuring maximum compatibility and reliability by reducing the complexity of the PCIe-to-Serial bridge.
Deployment is simplified in high-density environments through the use of an included VHDCI 68-port to 8x DB9 breakout cable, which prevents port crowding at the back of the PC. The card features a universal design that includes both full-profile and low-profile brackets, making it compatible with standard towers and small-form-factor (SFF) systems.
