Overview
The APC AP7900B is a network?managed switched rack power distribution unit intended for IT infrastructure power control and distribution in rack environments. IT operations and data center teams deploy this PDU where centralized remote power management and outlet control are required to streamline maintenance and reduce physical intervention. Its switched design enables individual outlet power cycling and sequencing to reboot hung devices or control startup order for dependent systems.
This unit accepts a 100?120?V AC input and provides eight individually controlled NEMA 5?15R output receptacles with a maximum load rating up to 15?A. Local current monitoring combined with remote management via Web, SNMP, SSH, and Telnet interfaces allows administrators to monitor overall load and configure alarm thresholds to prevent overload conditions. The integrated digital display provides visible aggregate current readout for rapid status checks.
The AP7900B fits in a 1U horizontal rack space in standard 19?inch cabinets common to IDF closets, network racks, branch infrastructure racks, colocation cabinets, or server room environments. This PDU is not a UPS and does not provide battery backup or ride?through capability. It is unsuitable as the sole power protection device where uptime during utility outages is required; in those cases, deploying a UPS or UPS + PDU combination is necessary to deliver continuous power during interruptions.
