APC APDU9970 – Switched Rack PDU 30 A 120/208 V
Overview
APC APDU9970 is a switched rack power distribution unit (PDU) engineered for power distribution with remote outlet‑level control in 0 U rack installations. It is deployed by data center engineers, rack technicians, and facilities teams to manage and cycle power to rack‑mounted equipment while preserving usable rack U‑space.
The unit supports single‑phase AC input with a NEMA L14‑30P plug and is rated for up to 30 A input current at 120 V/208 V. It delivers power through 24 outlets: sixteen NEMA 5‑20R, seven IEC 60320 C13/C15, and one IEC 60320 C19/C21 receptacle. Remote switching enables on/off control per outlet.
Mechanical design is 0 U vertical for installation alongside rack rails without using an equipment U, ideal for dense rack environments where space conservation is needed. A 10 ft (≈ 3.05 m) cord provides flexible connection to branch circuits.
Integrated network interfaces support SNMP and Redfish protocols over 10/100/1000BASE‑T Ethernet for remote monitoring and control of power states. On‑device management assists load balancing and controlled device cycling during maintenance operations.
In practical deployment, technicians use APDU9970 to remotely reboot hung devices or sequence power during service windows, enabling controlled outlet cycling without physical access. Its design is not intended for environments requiring only basic, unmanaged power distribution, as the switched and network capabilities distinguish it from non‑managed PDUs.
