APC AR8429 – 1U Brush Strip Rack Cable Organizer
Overview
APC AR8429 is a horizontal rack-mount cable pass-through panel designed to maintain structured cable routing in standard 19-inch equipment racks. Data center technicians and network engineers deploy this accessory to route patch cables or power cords between the front and rear of rack enclosures while maintaining airflow containment inside the cabinet.
The device occupies 1U of rack space and integrates a brush strip opening that allows cables to pass through the panel without leaving large open gaps. This design helps reduce bypass airflow and supports proper cooling management by preventing hot-air recirculation within rack enclosures and containment systems.
The AR8429 installs directly into EIA-310 compliant 19-inch racks, including common rack enclosures used in enterprise IT infrastructure. The brush insert provides flexible cable entry while maintaining airflow control, making it suitable for installations where cables must transition between rack front and rear zones such as patch panels, switches, and top-of-rack network devices.
The panel supports front or rear mounting within the rack frame and includes installation hardware for straightforward deployment. Its compact low-depth construction minimizes obstruction behind rack doors and ensures compatibility with dense equipment layouts or shallow racks.
In practice, this accessory is used in data center cabinets, colocation racks, and structured cabling racks where airflow containment and organized cable routing must coexist. It is not designed as a cable retention or cable-finger organizer; instead, it functions primarily as a sealed cable pass-through barrier to preserve rack airflow management strategies.
