Overview

The APC KVM‑USBVM is a server interface module designed for APC’s KVM 2G switch systems, providing a compact USB and video connection with virtual media support to integrate individual servers into a KVM switch infrastructure. It is deployed by IT engineers and data center technicians to enable local server access through shared keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) infrastructure.

This module connects a server’s USB and VGA (HD‑15) ports to a KVM switch via an RJ‑45 network‑style connection, converting device signals into a format usable by the KVM 2G chassis. Virtual media capability allows administrators to remotely mount USB storage devices to the connected server, streamlining software installation and recovery tasks without physical media.

It is a non‑rackmount, hot‑pluggable accessory that adds or removes servers from a KVM system without powering down the switch infrastructure, suitable for dynamic environments such as server rooms, enterprise racks, and lab deployments where console consolidation is required.
