APC SUA5000RMT5U 5000VA Rackmount Smart-UPS 208V
Overview :
The APC SUA5000RMT5U is a 5000VA line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to provide battery-backed power and voltage regulation for rack-mounted IT infrastructure. It is commonly deployed by data center engineers, network administrators, and infrastructure teams to maintain system availability during utility outages, brownouts, or unstable power conditions. The unit provides conditioned 208V output and battery backup to allow controlled shutdown of servers, network equipment, and storage platforms during extended outages.
This UPS delivers 5000VA / 4000W of power capacity with a pure sine-wave output suitable for sensitive server-grade power supplies. It operates on a 208V electrical ecosystem and provides four locking receptacles including two NEMA L6-20R and two NEMA L6-30R outlets. A NEMA L6-30P input connector supports higher-capacity circuits commonly provisioned in enterprise racks. At full load the system provides approximately 9.4 minutes of runtime, allowing sufficient time for automated shutdown procedures or generator startup.
Physically, the device occupies 5U of rack space and fits standard 19-inch four-post racks used in IDF, MDF, and data center cabinets. The chassis can also be deployed in tower orientation when rack infrastructure is not available. With a weight of approximately 215 lb, installation typically occurs at the lower section of racks to maintain cabinet stability and proper load distribution.
The UPS integrates into APC power management environments using SmartSlot expansion capability and RS-232 management interfaces. With optional network management modules installed, administrators can monitor power status, configure shutdown policies, and integrate the UPS into centralized infrastructure monitoring systems via SNMP or web interfaces. This allows the unit to operate as part of a managed power protection ecosystem within enterprise racks.
A common deployment example is a 208V rack powering blade servers, storage arrays, and aggregation switches where short-term battery runtime is required to bridge generator startup or to enable graceful shutdown. In such scenarios the UPS maintains clean sine-wave power and protects equipment from surges and line disturbances while providing controlled shutdown capability.
This UPS is not intended for low-power branch offices, residential installations, or environments limited to standard 120V circuits. Its 208V input requirement and high-capacity locking connectors require dedicated electrical infrastructure typically found in data centers or commercial facilities.
