Overview
The Eaton EVMAGU23X-E is a G4 generation managed rack power distribution unit (PDU) designed for high-density IT environments requiring granular power monitoring and control. It is deployed by data center and infrastructure engineers to distribute power across rack-mounted equipment while enabling remote visibility and outlet-level control. The unit addresses the need for scalable, monitored power delivery in modern rack architectures.
This PDU supports universal input configurations, accommodating both single-phase (100–240V) and three-phase (200–415V) power sources. It delivers up to 23kW capacity with input current ratings up to 63A, depending on configuration. The unit provides 42 outlets, including 24 IEC C13 and 18 IEC C39 (C14/C20 compatible), allowing mixed device connectivity. Outlet-level metering and switching enable load balancing and remote power cycling for individual devices.
The vertical 0U form factor allows installation alongside rack rails without consuming usable rack units, making it suitable for high-density 42U or larger cabinets. It is typically deployed in data centers, colocation facilities, and enterprise server rooms where maximizing rack space and managing high power loads are critical.
The unit integrates with network management systems via a hot-swappable Gigabit network module, supporting SNMP, web, CLI, and API-based access. It aligns with DCIM platforms and Eaton Brightlayer environments for centralized monitoring and control. Universal input support allows the same PDU model to be deployed across different voltage ecosystems, reducing SKU complexity.
In a typical deployment, the PDU is mounted vertically in a rack and connected to upstream power sources such as UPS systems or facility power feeds using detachable input cables. Equipment is distributed across multiple load banks, enabling balanced phase utilization and controlled power distribution across compute, storage, and networking devices.
This unit is not suitable for low-density racks requiring only basic power strips or for environments lacking network infrastructure to support managed features. It is also not intended for single-phase-only deployments where universal input flexibility is not required, as simpler PDUs may be more appropriate.
