Overview :

The Eaton INDGW‑M2 is a network management and industrial communications card that installs in the mini‑slot of compatible UPS systems to provide Ethernet based monitoring and control. It is used by data center infrastructure engineers, facilities automation teams, and industrial IT staff to integrate UPS telemetry into building management systems (BMS) and network management systems (NMS) via standard industrial protocols. It solves the need for unified power and environmental visibility across distributed uninterruptible power systems.

Electrically, the card supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet and implements a broad protocol set including SNMP (v1/v3), HTTPS/TLS 1.2, DHCP, NTP, Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet IP/BBMD, SMTP/SMTPS, SSH and others for interoperability with automation platforms, SCADA, and NMS. The card draws low power from the host UPS slot interface with supply in the 5–12 V range (host dependent).

Mechanically, INDGW‑M2 occupies a standard Mini‑Slot interface in Eaton UPS systems specified to accept this card family. Rack or infrastructure teams deploy it where remote acquisition of UPS status, alerts, and environmental data (via optional probes) is required without external gateways or add‑on appliances.

Integration spans multiple UPS models — including Eaton 5P, 5PX, 9PX, 9SX, 93PM and 93E series — exposing UPS metrics to Eaton Intelligent Power Manager, SNMP managers, BACnet controllers, and BMS platforms. Optional environmental monitoring probes can attach to the card for temperature/humidity sensing and alerting.

A practical deployment is in industrial control rooms or data centers where UPS systems need to report status, alarms, and environmental conditions to centralized automation or DCIM platforms. It also supports orderly server shutdown scripting via Modbus or SNMP traps. This card is not suitable for stand‑alone network connectivity; it must be installed into a UPS mini slot, and does not replace full network appliances or switches.
