Eaton N784-H01-SCMM Tripp Lite 10 100 Mbps Hardened Media Converter
Overview
The Tripp Lite N784-H01-SCMM is a robust hardened copper to fiber media converter designed to extend 10/100 Mbps Ethernet network connections over longer distances, overcoming the inherent limitations of copper cabling. This device is an ideal solution for industrial environments, outdoor installations, or any scenario where network segments need to be linked across challenging conditions or significant distances. It effectively transforms a copper Ethernet signal into a multimode fiber optic signal, enabling data transmission up to 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) away using SC duplex multimode fiber optic cable. Engineered for reliability in harsh settings, the N784-H01-SCMM features a durable, hardened aluminum case that protects against electrostatic discharge (ESD), radio frequency interference (RFI), and power surges. This design allows it to operate consistently in extreme temperatures ranging from -10°C to 60°C (14°F to 140°F). It supports both auto-negotiation and automatic MDI/MDI-X configuration, ensuring seamless integration with existing network devices without the need for crossover cabling. Deployment versatility is a core aspect of this media converter, offering hardware for wall or DIN rail mounting. It incorporates Link Fault Signaling (LFS) and Loop Back functions (Local Loop Back and Remote Loop Back) for comprehensive network health monitoring and troubleshooting, indicated by easy-to-read LEDs. The N784-H01-SCMM can also be integrated into the N785-CH12 12-port chassis (sold separately) for organized, rack-mounted installations, making it suitable for expanding network reach in various demanding operational infrastructures.
