Overview:

The Intellinet 545075 is a Gigabit Ethernet WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) media converter that converts 10/100/1000Base-TX copper to 1000Base-LX fiber over a single strand of single-mode fiber . It is used by network engineers to extend Gigabit Ethernet networks up to 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) without installing a second fiber cable .

The converter uses WDM technology to transmit and receive on separate wavelengths (RX: 1310nm, TX: 1550nm) over a single fiber strand, effectively doubling existing fiber capacity or enabling use of simplex cables . It is transparent to network performance while adding copper-to-fiber media support .

Deployment is flexible as a standalone desktop/wall-mount unit or in a 14-slot media converter chassis (model 507356) . This unit is not suitable for multi-mode fiber and must be paired with matching WDM converter model 545068 at the other end of the link, which uses opposite transmit/receive wavelengths .
