Intellinet 506502 Fast Ethernet Media Converter

Overview :

The Intellinet 506502 is an unmanaged Fast Ethernet media converter designed to connect 10/100Base-TX copper Ethernet networks to 100Base-FX multimode fiber infrastructure. It enables cost-effective migration from copper to fiber while extending network distances without requiring changes to the existing Ethernet architecture.

The converter features one auto-negotiating 10/100Base-TX RJ45 port and one duplex SC multimode fiber port operating at 1310 nm. It supports Fast Ethernet data rates up to 100 Mbps, Auto MDI/MDI-X, IEEE 802.3x flow control, and jumbo frames up to 1.6 KB. The multimode fiber interface supports transmission distances up to 2 km, while the copper interface supports cable runs up to 100 m.

The unit is suitable for enterprise LANs, branch offices, industrial edge networks, campus environments, and data centers requiring copper-to-fiber connectivity. It operates as a standalone converter or can be installed in the Intellinet 14-slot media converter chassis (Model 507356) for centralized deployment.

This media converter is intended for Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) applications using multimode fiber. It is not suitable for Gigabit Ethernet deployments or single-mode fiber installations.
