The Eaton N784-H01-SCSM (Tripp Lite Series) is a hardened copper-to-fiber media converter engineered for extended-range network bridging in harsh environments. Plant automation engineers, campus network technicians, and physical security teams deploy this module to bypass the standard 100-meter physical length limitation of traditional copper UTP network lines.

The unit converts incoming 10/100 Base-TX copper Ethernet traffic into single-mode fiber optic signals, pushing data streams out up to 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) over an SC duplex fiber pair. Integrated Link Fault Signaling (LFS) and Local/Remote Loop Back (LLB/RLB) diagnostics provide immediate physical troubleshooting hooks via manual DIP switches. These monitoring systems visually highlight link drops caused by severed cabling or transceiver anomalies across distant network nodes.

Built with a rugged aluminum enclosure, this compact converter handles severe operating environments, resisting electrostatic discharge (ESD) and radio frequency interference (RFI). It installs as a standalone desktop piece, mounts via integrated DIN rail clips, or secures into a 12-slot N785-CH12 centralization rack. Never attempt to mix this single-mode 1310nm optical interface with a multimode fiber run, as extreme optical signal scattering will drop all network carrier lines.
