Overview :

The Eaton RELAY-MS is a dry-contact and serial interface management card designed for network engineers and IT procurement professionals. It provides a dedicated physical interface to enable automated shutdown and real-time network monitoring of compatible uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. By bridging the UPS with hardware control systems or attached computing equipment, this module drops the risk of data corruption during power anomalies by initiating clean, script-driven machine shutdowns.

This networking card leverages an integrated DB9 port that functions dualistically across standard RS-232 serial communication and dry-contact relay modes. Built on the proprietary Mini-Slot form factor, it drops into available expansion bays on the rear panel of target power systems without requiring auxiliary external enclosures or supplemental power runs. The board draws its internal operational voltage directly from the host UPS mainboard logic.

The module is engineered for enterprise server environments, remote industrial control infrastructure, data center network closets, and edge deployment hubs. It is fully cross-compatible with mid-to-high capacity Eaton power architectures, specifically the 5P, 5PX, 5PX G2, 9SX, 9PX, 9PXM, and 93E equipment frames. It should NOT be deployed in installations that require active IP-addressable, SNMP, or web-based interface control protocols, which are instead served by distinct network management modules.
