Overview

The Eaton SR42UBSD is a 42‑rack‑unit shallow‑depth server rack enclosure designed to house, secure and organize 19‑inch equipment in constrained floor‑space environments. It is deployed by data center engineers, rack infrastructure technicians, and facilities teams to structurally mount servers, networking hardware, PDUs and cable management within a compact footprint. This model addresses space limitations without compromising standard rack capacity or load support.

This enclosure supports standard 42U vertical mounting, with adjustable rails that allow mounting depths from 4″ to 27″ (102 mm to 686 mm), accommodating a wide range of shallow‑depth equipment. Its capacity is rated for 3000 lb (1360 kg) stationary and 2250 lb (1020 kg) rolling, enabling secure installation of heavy IT infrastructure and PDUs.

SR42UBSD is suited for network closets, edge data centers, telecom rooms and AV/IT converged spaces where traditional deep racks may not fit. Preinstalled casters and leveling feet allow the enclosure to be rolled into position and stabilized on uneven floors. Front and rear doors, as well as side panels, are locking, removable, and reversible for flexible access and physical security.

Integration points include EIA‑310‑E compliant square hole rails compatible with standard M6 cage nut and screw mounting hardware, enabling straightforward installation of Eaton and third‑party PDUs, cable managers, shelves and airflow management accessories. Door perforation and top cable access openings support airflow and cable routing in active IT deployments.

In practical deployments, SR42UBSD is often used where racks must fit through standard doorways and into dense spaces without sacrificing vertical unit capacity. It is not intended for outdoor use or environments requiring seismic bracing unless appropriately engineered mounting accessories are used. It also is not ideal for very deep equipment exceeding its maximum mounting depth range.
