The Eaton N785‑001‑SC‑MM is a Gigabit multimode SC fiber‑to‑Ethernet media converter that bridges 10/100/1000Base‑T copper links with multimode fiber optics using SC duplex interfaces. It is deployed by network engineers and infrastructure teams to overcome copper Ethernet distance limitations by converting standard Ethernet to fiber optics, extending links up to several hundred meters without managed switch involvement. This converter is suitable for branch wiring closets, IDFs, campus links, and other structured cabling extensions.

The converter provides one RJ45 10/100/1000Base‑T port and one SC duplex multimode fiber port operating at an 850 nm wavelength. Auto negotiation, auto‑MDI/MDI‑X on the copper side, and six LED indicators offer link and performance feedback. External AC power is supplied by a compact adapter.

This unit fits desktop or rack‑shelf environments adjacent to switches, routers, or other network equipment where fiber runs are required to reach remote segments beyond copper limits.
