Overview
The HPE 466484-001 is a Virtual Connect 8Gb 24-Port Fibre Channel Module designed for the HPE BladeSystem c-Class enclosure. It serves as a dedicated, high-speed storage interconnect, streamlining the connection between server blades and a Storage Area Network (SAN). This module solves the significant operational challenge of managing complex physical SAN cabling and zoning by abstracting the server’s identity from the physical hardware, allowing for a “wire-once” environment. It is engineered for data center administrators who need to simplify SAN fabrics, accelerate server deployment, and reduce infrastructure costs. At its core, this module leverages HPE’s Virtual Connect technology to virtualize server-to-SAN connections. With 16 internal downlink ports dedicated to the server blades and 8 external SFP+ uplink ports for connecting to the core SAN fabric, it provides a total of 128 Gb/s of full-duplex bandwidth. This architecture allows administrators to pre-configure SAN connections within the enclosure.
