HPE JH390A FlexFabric 5940 48SFP+ 6QSFP28 Switch
Overview
The HPE JH390A is a high-density, low-latency Layer 3 switch designed for demanding data center environments. As part of the FlexFabric 5940 Switch Series, its primary role is to serve as a top-of-rack (ToR) or leaf switch in large enterprise data centers, or as a core switch for medium-sized enterprises. It addresses the need for scalable, high-performance server connectivity and the convergence of storage and Ethernet traffic in virtualized environments. This switch is engineered for high-throughput applications, delivering a switching capacity of up to 2.16 Tbps and a forwarding rate of up to 1607 Mpps. A key technology is its support for Intelligent Resilient Fabric (IRF), which allows up to nine switches to be virtualized and managed as a single logical device. This simplifies network architecture and improves resiliency, with failover convergence times of less than 50 milliseconds, ensuring application availability and responsiveness. With a compact 1RU form factor, the JH390A is built for efficient deployment at the server access layer. It features 48 fixed 10GbE SFP+ ports for server connections and six 100GbE QSFP28 ports for high-speed uplinks to the network core. Management is handled through HPE’s Intelligent Management Center (IMC), providing comprehensive control and visibility over the network infrastructure.
