The HPE R8N50A is a Type C Fabric and Main Processing Unit (MPU) engineered specifically for the HPE FlexNetwork 7510X modular switch chassis. It is designed to solve the challenge of managing immense traffic loads and complex Layer 2/3 routing services in mission-critical environments by providing centralized processing, fabric control, and management for all installed line cards. This MPU enables the 7510X chassis to deliver its full potential. When two R8N50A units are installed, the system achieves a total switching capacity of up to 9.6 Tbps and a packet forwarding rate of up to 7,200 MPPS. This is accomplished through its advanced architecture that supports high-speed communication between line cards, ensuring low latency and high throughput for demanding applications like video, IoT, and high-density 100GbE deployments. Designed for maximum availability and simplified operations, the R8N50A fits seamlessly as a plug-in module within the 7510X chassis. It runs on the robust Comware v7 operating system, which provides a rich feature set including advanced routing, MPLS, and comprehensive security.
