The Opengear CM8148 is a 1RU rack-mount console manager designed to provide secure out-of-band management for network, server, storage, and power infrastructure. It enables administrators to remotely access and manage critical equipment through dedicated serial console connections, even when the production network is unavailable.

Built for enterprise data centers, colocation facilities, branch offices, and edge deployments, the CM8148 features 48 straight-pin serial console ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, a 1.6 GHz dual-core ARM processor, 2 GB DDR4 memory, and 32 GB eMMC storage. The platform supports Docker containers and integrates with Opengear Lighthouse for centralized fleet management and automation.

The appliance is suited for organizations requiring resilient remote infrastructure management, secure console access, and simplified operational recovery during network outages. It is intended for serial console management and should not be used where selectable pinout serial ports or 10GbE networking are required, as those capabilities are available on specific CM8148-10G variants.
