StarTech USB2G4LEXT2NA 4-Port USB 2.0 over Ethernet Extender
Overview :
The StarTech USB2G4LEXT2NA is an enterprise-grade USB over IP extender kit designed to bypass the traditional 16ft (5m) distance limitation of USB cabling. By leveraging a standard Gigabit Ethernet Local Area Network (LAN) or dedicated Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, this kit allows users to connect up to four USB 2.0 peripherals to a remote computer located anywhere on the network infrastructure.
Technically, the system supports high-speed USB 2.0 data transfer rates up to 480Mbps. In a direct point-to-point configuration, it extends USB signals up to 330ft (100m). When integrated into a managed network with IGMP-supporting switches, the range is limited only by the reach of the network itself. This makes it an ideal solution for accessing high-resolution webcams, touchscreens, scanners, or printers from a centralized server room or a different floor.
The receiver (Remote) unit features a built-in 4-port USB hub and is housed in a rugged, mountable metal chassis to withstand industrial environments. It includes a 10W (2A) power adapter to ensure that bus-powered devices, such as external hard drives or specialized sensors, receive stable voltage at the remote end. This hardware-based solution is OS-independent and requires no complex driver installation, ensuring seamless compatibility across Windows, macOS, and Linux systems.
