TRENDnet TEG-MGBS20D3 SFP BiDi SMF Transceiver Module
Overview :
The TRENDnet TEG-MGBS20D3 is a Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver designed for high-speed, long-distance network extensions over single-mode fiber (SMF). This module is specifically engineered for environments such as enterprise campuses, manufacturing facilities, and geographically dispersed buildings that require reliable Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over significant distances. It solves the common challenge of extending network reach beyond the limitations of standard copper cabling by utilizing fiber optic technology. This transceiver leverages Bi-Directional (BiDi) Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology, which allows for the transmission and reception of data over a single fiber strand. This innovative approach effectively doubles the capacity of existing fiber infrastructure, offering a cost-effective upgrade path without the need to install new cabling. The TEG-MGBS20D3 transmits at a 1310nm wavelength and receives at 1550nm, requiring it to be paired with a corresponding module, such as the TEG-MGBS20D5, which operates on the reverse wavelengths. Designed for seamless integration, this hot-pluggable module is compliant with the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA), ensuring compatibility with any MSA-compliant SFP slot found on network switches and fiber media converters. Its durable metal enclosure provides low electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring signal integrity in demanding environments. The module features a simplex LC connector and is built to support network links up to 20 kilometers (12.4 miles), delivering consistent 1.25Gbps throughput.
