Overview
The Eaton B093-008-2E4U-V is a purpose-built console server gateway designed for remote management and out-of-band access to serial- and network-connected gear in wiring closets, branch offices or edge sites. It supports eight RS-232 serial console ports, dual gigabit Ethernet NICs for in-band redundancy, and a built-in 4G LTE cellular modem (dual-SIM) for fallback connectivity when the primary network fails. It includes 4 GB of internal flash for logging/firmware and certifications to PCI DSS 3.2, FIPS 140-2, SSL/SSH, OpenVPN and IPSec—ensuring serious security compliance. Because the unit supports encrypted remote access and device management, you can control routers, firewalls, PDUs, UPS systems or switches from anywhere—even if the site network is down—making it ideal for mission-critical infrastructure where downtime isn’t an option. The compact 1U rack-mount (or desktop via included feet) steel chassis fits standard racks without consuming extra space.In practice you’d install this in a secure network operations centre or dispersed edge site, connect it to your gear’s console ports via RJ-45 or DB9 serial adapters, and configure both primary (Ethernet) and secondary (cellular) channels. When the network is live the Gateway uses dual gigabit links; if the network fails it fails over to the cellular link to keep your access alive. For managed services, remote branches or sites with limited onsite IT presence, this console server provides the visibility and control plus fallback access that typical KVMs or simple console cables cannot deliver.
