Overview :

The Opengear OM2248-L is a 1U operations manager and out-of-band management appliance designed for secure remote access to critical IT and network infrastructure. It provides centralized serial console management for routers, switches, firewalls, servers, storage systems, and other infrastructure devices across enterprise, branch, edge, and data center deployments.

The appliance integrates 48 software-selectable RS-232 serial ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet/SFP interfaces, a quad-core x86 processor, 8 GB of memory, 64 GB of internal storage, and an integrated Global 4G LTE modem for resilient out-of-band connectivity. Docker support enables deployment of edge applications directly on the platform, while TPM 2.0 enhances platform security.

Its 1U rackmount design is suited for enterprise data centers, colocation facilities, remote branches, industrial sites, and edge infrastructure where continuous management access is required during primary network outages. Integrated cellular connectivity provides an additional management path when wired connectivity is unavailable.

The OM2248-L is compatible with serial-managed infrastructure supporting RS-232 console interfaces and Opengear Lighthouse management. It is intended for environments requiring high-density console access. It is not suitable for deployments requiring native 10GbE uplinks, as those are provided by the OM2248-10G series.
